After a good organization of the Italian Long Championships at Passo Valles in September 2020, we are ready to launch the competition program for PRIMIERO ORIENTEERING WEEK - POW 2021. Having organized the Italian championships in September, respecting a serious and rigorous Covid-19 protocol, made us think that we can also offer a safe multi-days event in July 2021. Of course, we are confident and we strongly hope that this pandemic can be overcome by then or in any case very limited and controllable. The good result in terms of security in September makes us feel confident for the actions that we could improve as well as improve next summer. Fortunately, this is not the first challenge that our club US Primiero takes on. Therefore, we would really like to look to the future with very much confidence and give a sign of hope to all orienteers around the world. Registrations are now open on http://www.orienteeringonline.net with the first deadline designed specifically for March 31st, 2021 in order to allow everyone to understand how this pandemic will evolve and choose responsibly. Having hosted the National Championship in our map at Passo Valles, led us to a slight change in the competition program. Offering, as scheduled, two days of Prologues (a sprint and a forest race), while the Dolomites 3 Days will offer two classic races in the woods and the last stage on open ground. The first stage of the 3-days will take place on the new map at Malga Fossetta and the Paneveggio Forest (Passo Rolle), theatre of the Junior World Championships in long distance 2009, will host the second stage. Alpe Tognola, a beautiful terrace overlooking the Dolomites and especially the Pale di San Martino, will host our last day of races on open ground, with many marshes, rocks and stones. During the week, it will also be possible to train at high altitude on a brand new map at Baita Segantini, a wonderful mountain cottage! In the hope that Covid-19 will be overcame by science, our good behaviours and the good summer season, as always we will do our best to offer good races, on good maps and with the greatest possible safety. Welcome everyone! your POW staff
